Lawns are looking brown!

This summer has really taken a toll on many lawns across Michigan. The extensive heat and long breaks between precipitation have created the ideal environment for weeds and crabgrass. Lawn applications perform best when water is introduced within 24 hours after treatment. When it's days before a lawn gets water you start to have performance issues. What we are seeing now is a combination of lack of water and aggressive edging from lawn cutting companies. When you remove the good grasses from an area in the lawn weed and crabgrass are the first things to grow in these areas. When you damage the turf you also remove the lawns product barrier again leaving these areas helpless to an invasion of weeds. Not to worry, a few weeks ago we equipped all lawn professionals with products to treat weeds and crabgrass in these areas. The best defense is water. ‌During‌ ‌hot‌ ‌and‌ ‌dry‌ ‌periods,‌ ‌the‌ ‌turf‌ ‌needs‌ ‌light,‌ ‌frequent‌ ‌waterings‌ ‌that‌ ‌add‌ ‌up‌ ‌to‌ ‌1/2‌ ‌inch‌ ‌to‌ ‌1‌ ‌1/2‌ ‌inches‌ ‌of‌ ‌water‌ ‌per‌ ‌week.
